immune

i am not immune from this

from being human

from being a woman

from being told to sit down and shut up

from being scared 

from being alone

from being told boys will be boys

from being treated like cattle

from being laughed at 

from being told it’s “no big deal”

from being a man’s plaything

from being a pawn in government debates

from being told that my skirt was too short or my shoulders are too enticing

( now say this part in a whisper scream )

from being too fat and too sassy and too opinionated and too emotional and too dramatic and too much 

and too and too and too

i am not immune from this
